Frangipani Absolute India Odor: balsamic notes of almond and vanilla Use: Frangipani is a tree that measures between five and 10 meters in height, with lovely, white, spiraled flowers with large petals tinged with yellow at their base. Native to the West Indies, today frangipani is found in every tropical region of the planet. It belongs to the same botanical family as oleander and periwinkle. The master glover-perfumer Frangipani became famous in the 16th century when he created almond-scented gloves. Later, when frangipani was discovered, its fragrance was reminiscent of the famous Frangipani gloves, and the plant was named in honor of the Italian master. Frangipani flowers give off a strong, floral smell of white flowers on a subtle base of balsamic notes of almond and vanilla. In perfumery, frangipani’s olfactory nuances are challenging to preserve without altering them. As with rose and jasmine, frangipani absolute is obtained by extraction with a volatile solvent, hexane, which produces the concrete. This substance is then washed with alcohol before being concentrated into the absolute. |
