Dammar Black Resin Odor: characteristic Use: Adam Michael has this to say ”A very large tree growing up to 1700 m and found in many evergreen forests on the Western coast of India. Black dammar is certainly not sought out for its aroma which is as good as non-existent. Used within incense (melts easily on charcoal disks), religious and magical preparations and of use as an ingredient for making black sealing wax.” |

Madagascar Elemi Resin Odor: characteristic Use: Adam Michael has this to say “We are fortunate to be working with someone now who is forever in and out of Madagascar and is kindly obtaining resins for us. This wild crafted elemi resin from Madagascar is not overly aromatic if you smell it neat, maybe bitter and terpenic at best. However added to the oil burner** the aroma exudes a melody of fresh, lemony sweet, balsamic, and somewhat woody qualities. Within the opening I also detect nuances of bitter almond along with mint and in the heart fleeting trace notes of a musky and incense character. |

elemi resin Odor: Balsam Elemi Use: Manila elemi is the oleoresin which exudes from the bark of Canarium trees when they are tapped or wounded. The essential oil, distilled from Manila Elemi, is mainly used for fragrance applications (such as soap and perfumes) and as a base for liniment. Manila Elemi still finds occasional use as an ingredient in lacquers and varnishes, where it gives toughness and elasticity to the dried film. |
