clary sage absolute France Odor: herbaceous family / warm, lavender, hay Use: Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) is one of two varieties of the plant used in perfumery, the other being common or culinary sage (Salvia officinalis). Clary Sage owes its name to its high concentration of sclareol, a potent molecule prized for its capacity to be transformed into derivatives with an ambery odor. The United States, China and Ukraine are all major producers of cultivated Clary Sage, which is extracted to produce a concrete that serves as the basis for sclareol chemistry. Clary Sage is also grown in Provence, but on a lesser scale than in the major producing countries. |

Clary Sage Absolute FRENCH Odor: characteristic Use: Adam Michael has this to say “Clary Sage Absolute FRENCH is solvent extracted from the flowers of Salvia sclarea that grow in Provence, France. No other plant part is used. This absolute is a solid mass that is brownish green in colour and the aroma is sweet, herbaceous, floral, with delicate woody, amber and tea notes aplenty. This full bodied, sumptuous absolute is a good fixative and useful within herbal, chypre and fougere compositions.” |

Clary Sage Absolute RUSSIAN Odor: characteristic Use: Adam Michael has this to say “This aroma is less sweet and more mild compared to the French offering, displaying earthy herbaceous notes of outstanding tenacity with fresh cardamom spice, tobacco, and a wide array of yummy tea notes. This material is useful for building woody notes, adding distinct herbal freshness to green accords, enhancing the aromatic character of lavender bases and floral blends. This material is brownish-olive green in colour, of a waxy sold mass that will benefit from warmth prior to use and is produced by solvent extracting the leaves and flowering tops of Russian grown Salvia sclarea.” |

Clary Sage Absolute Kosher - Halal Odor: Herbaceous Woody Floral Use: Clary sage is a cultivated herb born in the South of France from the same lamiaceae family as officinal sage. Known as a strong natural medicine, its Latin name "Salvia", derived from the verb “salvere” (to heal), suggests its benefits for health. It also finds application in wines and liqueurs for its Muscatel taste, and in perfumery for its strong, fresh and spicy herbal smell. |
