Crude Tall Oil Odor: characteristic Use: Crude Tall Oil (CTO) is a by-product of the kraft pulping process used by many paper mills. Tall oil soap is collected at the mills and then acidulated to make crude tall oil. It is a mixture of fatty acids, rosin and other neutral materials and forms water-in-oil emulsions and stabilizes mud systems at high bottom-hole temperatures. The CTO can then be further refined through the fractionation process to separate it into the components of tall oil fatty acid, tall oil rosin, distilled tall oil, pitch and heads. (GP-CTO) |

SYLVATALTM D25LR Distilled Tall Oil Odor: characteristic Use: SYLVATALTM D25LR is a source of tall oil fatty acid having a very high tall oil rosins content. The utility of distilled tall oil fatty acid can be found in the long carbon chain (C18), acid function of the carboxyl group (-COOH), or unsaturation of the double bonds. Plus, the rosin acids content adds "cling" and binding properties to such products as: asphalt antistripping agents, metalworking fluids, and rubber compounds. The SYLVATALTM D25LR derivatives are typically inexpensive soaps, amines, amides, and esters. The high rosin content in SYLVATALTM D25LR will produce hard, water-resistant alkyd resins. These unique properties cannot be obtained with any other fatty acid type. In addition to the above-mentioned applications, SYLVATALTM D25LR has found use in concrete form release agents, soaps, and cleaners. |
